DPC has launched a nationwide initiative to purchase recovered R-410A. Through this program, DPC reimburses HVACR professionals based on the refrigerant’s weight and purity, and issues a payment within 30 days of receiving the gas.

“When it comes to refrigerant buyback, there’s understandably a great deal of focus on R-22,” said Dave Couchot, general manager of DPC. “However, R-410A is a market staple and DPC has the onsite technology to properly reclaim it. Buying it makes good business sense for us and our customers.”

Upon receiving recovered R-410A, DPC weighs the material and measures its purity to ensure maximum reimbursement. Participants receive a detailed receiving report, as well as EPA documentation.

In addition to R-410A, DPC also buys recovered R-22, R-11, R-12, R-113, R-114, R-500 and R-502.

DPC was recently recognized by the Climate Action Reserve for significantly reducing greenhouse emissions and contributing to the growth of North American carbon markets.

DPC was named a “Project Developer of the Year,” by the Reserve, the premier carbon offset registry for the North American carbon market, for registering the most carbon offset projects during 2014. Through these projects, DPC reduced nearly 150,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide, which is equivalent to the annual greenhouse gas emissions from more than 31,000 cars.

As a project developer, DPC administers the destruction of ozone depleting substances (ODS), such as R-114, to earn carbon credits that are used in cap-and-trade programs aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

“Through the successful development and implementation of carbon offset projects, DPC has helped support the growth and strength of North American carbon markets,” said Gary Gero, president of the Climate Action Reserve. “A great deal of commitment, education, and resources are necessary to implement successful carbon offset projects that adhere to the Reserve’s regulatory-quality standards. We applaud DPC for its work registering the most offset projects during the past year and commend their achievement of significant emissions reductions to benefit our climate. The high quality offsets earned by DPC represent greenhouse emissions reductions that are real, additional, and permanent.”

Cap-and-trade programs reduce greenhouse gases by allocating a limited number of carbon credits among emission-producing companies and corporations. Each carbon credit is equivalent to one metric ton of carbon dioxide and the credits are traded as commodities.

DPC has opened a facility in Austin to provide more Texas HVAC contractors with a convenient way to sell recovered refrigerants. Operating in conjunction with its plant in Rhome, Texas, DPC is now offering a small cylinder exchange and refrigerant buyback program in the greater Dallas-Fort Worth, Austin and San Antonio markets.

Through this program, the reclaimer collects small refrigerant recovery cylinders directly from HVAC businesses. DPC trucks make routine stops at participating locations to exchange filled cylinders with clean cylinders. Once collected refrigerant is analyzed, DPC reimburses contractors for the value of the recovered gases. Contractors receive quick payment, in the form of a check or product credit, and EPA documentation. There are no service fees and no minimums for collected gases.

“This is a simple, straightforward, contractor-focused program that gives HVAC businesses a convenient way to generate additional revenue,” said Dave Couchot, general manager of DPC. “As EPA phase out dates quickly approach, now is the ideal time for contractors to sell popular recovered refrigerants, like  R-22, while complying with environmental regulations.”

As an EPA-certified reclaimer, DPC is equipped to buy and reclaim a variety of refrigerants, including mixed gases. In addition to R-22, DPC purchases R-123, R-11, R-12, R-410A, R-134a, R-502, R-113, and R-114.

DPC also offers small cylinder exchange and refrigerant buyback services in Phoenix, Denver, Las Vegas, and throughout California.
